The Armstrong BLU-TRAC HP2 215/50 R17 is a performance-oriented passenger tyre developed for sedans, hatchbacks and road-focused vehicles approved for this tyre size. Its asymmetric tread design is intended to combine direct steering response, stable dry-road cornering and effective wet-road drainage.

The inner tread section helps move water away from the contact area and provides multiple gripping edges for wet-road traction. The outer tread section maintains stronger block support during steering, cornering and directional changes on dry roads.

Variable-width tread grooves support balanced dry and wet behaviour, while multi-pitch sequencing helps control road noise by varying the contact frequencies produced by the tread blocks.

Sharper 17-Inch Steering Response

The 50-profile sidewall gives the tyre a firmer and more immediate steering character than taller 55 or 60-profile alternatives. Combined with the 215 mm tread width, it provides a broad contact area for braking, cornering and highway stability.

The lower sidewall also provides less cushioning over potholes and broken road edges. Correct inflation, suitable wheel dimensions and regular tyre inspection are therefore particularly important with this size.

The 215/50 R17 size should only be fitted where approved by the vehicle manufacturer and where the required load index, speed rating, wheel width, overall diameter and suspension clearance are satisfied.

BLU-TRAC HP2 Technology

Armstrong BLU-TRAC HP2 Tread Technology

Performance-oriented asymmetric tread. The BLU-TRAC HP2 uses different tread structures across its inner and outer zones. The inner area supports water evacuation and wet-road control, while the outer area provides additional road contact for steering grip and dry-road cornering.

Advanced tread compound. The tread compound is developed to maintain effective engagement between the tyre and the road across changing temperatures and surface conditions. This supports acceleration, braking and everyday road control.

Inner wet-performance zone. Grooves and gripping edges across the inner tread provide routes for water to move away from the contact patch. This helps the tyre maintain more consistent contact with wet road surfaces.

Outer dry-handling zone. The outer tread area uses more stable blocks to support steering response, cornering grip and directional control on dry roads.

Variable-width grooves. The tread uses grooves of different widths to balance water evacuation with tread-block stability. This allows the tread to support both wet-road drainage and dry-road handling.

Multi-pitch sequencing. The tread blocks use varied dimensions and spacing rather than repeating one identical sequence around the tyre. This helps break up repetitive road-contact frequencies and control tread-pattern noise.

Multiple tread edges. Grooves, block edges and smaller tread cuts create additional gripping surfaces that support traction and braking in wet and changing road conditions.

Stable road-contact footprint. The performance-oriented tread arrangement is designed to maintain predictable road contact during braking, steering and highway manoeuvres.

Radial passenger construction. The tyre uses radial construction suited to road-going passenger vehicles, combining tread stability with the flexibility required for everyday road use.

Tread-wear indicators. Moulded tread-wear bars provide a visible reference as the tread approaches its replacement limit. Tyres should also be inspected regularly for cuts, cracks, bulges, puncture damage and irregular wear.

Understanding Tyre Size 215/50 R17 / How to Read Tyre Size

Vehicles with 215/50 R17 Tyre Size

What does 215/50 R17 mean?

215/50 R17 is the tyre size.

215 is the maximum width of the tyre in milimetres(mm). When the vehicle is fully loaded its width can expand maximum upto 215 milimetres(mm).

50 is the ratio among width and height of the tyre from its rim. it means that the height of the tyre is precisely 50% of the 215mm. Lower ratio improves road grip, but it reduces comfort to some extent.

R – refers to the method the tyre is produced. The letter “R” is found on all modern car tyres. It indicates the radial structure of tyre cosntructed with steel wires.

17 represents the diameter of the rim. It is a measurement in inches(“). This number should be rememberd as it is the measurement of the rims. It has to match exactly to what is mentioned in the car manual.

This particular tyre is with the size of 215/50 R17.
